Luchas por el agua, la vida y el territorio. El Magdalena Medio (Colombia) como acuatorio

Abstract

En este artículo se piensan las luchas para la defensa del territorio en Colombia a través del concepto de acuatorio. Definimos el acuatorio como un territorio de tierra y agua, en el que se desarrollan territorialidades anfibias. Proponemos desarrollar el concepto a partir de las experiencias y conocimientos situados de los movimientos sociales del Magdalena Medio. Esta región es al mismo tiempo el centro histórico de la explotación petrolera colombiana, y una de las regiones con mayores riquezas hídricas. Proponemos que el concepto de acuatorio aporta a la comprensión de las dinámicas de defensa territorial en la región: nos permite entender mejor los procesos de construcción identitaria con el agua, y la movilización de estas identidades y de las territorialidades anfibias en las reclamaciones territoriales.

This article analyses the struggles for the defense of territory in Colombia through the concept of aquatorium. We define the aquatorium as a territory of land and water, in which amphibious territorialities are developed. We propose to drive further the concept based on the experiences and situated knowledge of the social movements of the Magdalena Medio region. This region is at the same time the historical center of Colombian oil production, and one of the regions with the greatest water resources. We propose that the concept of aquatorium contributes to the understanding of the dynamics of territorial defense in the region: it allows us to better understand the processes of identity construction with water, and the mobilization of these identities and amphibious territorialities in the claims for territorial rights.
