Abstract
Recomendaciones para el Buen Trato en la Universidad” (2021) addresses communication as a central tool for preventing, making visible, and eradicating gender-based violence within the university setting. From a feminist and situated perspective, the document examines how the ways in which we name, narrate, and intervene shape the academic community’s ability to recognize and confront machista violence, which disproportionately affects women in situations of inequality. The guide advocates for an ethical, rigorous, and transformative use of language aimed at dignifying women who experience such violence, identifying its structural causes, and explicitly naming those who perpetrate it. It also offers guidelines for constructing responsible narratives that avoid revictimization and help create safe spaces for listening and accompaniment. Intervention is conceived as a collective process involving students, teaching and research staff, and administrative and service personnel, emphasizing the role of Equality Units, university support networks, and student-led initiatives. The guide concludes with innovative proposals to strengthen action against machista violence through institutional communication, feminist training, and the critical and creative use of social media. As a whole, the document serves as a practical and reflective tool to promote good treatment, equality, and social transformation within the Universidad Pablo de Olavide and the wider university system.
