Escondidos a plena vista: la representación del armario en el “Pequeño vals vienés” y La mala costumbre

Abstract

El objeto de estudio de este trabajo es el armario como dispositivo de represión sexual y su representación en dos textos pertenecientes al ámbito literario español aunque separados por más de 90 años. En ambos pueden observarse los principales rasgos de este instrumento regulador de la sexualidad: las consecuencias de habitar un no lugar, la invisibilización de su forma de desear y por último la vigilancia y disciplinamiento violento cuya finalidad es consolidad y perpetuar la heteronorma. Así, mediante el análisis de un poema lorquiano en el que la voz poética expresa la melancolía y sufrimiento provocados por la imposibilidad de vivir su deseo homoerótico en el ámbito público por una parte; y por otra, a través de la experiencia vital de la protagonista de La mala costumbre, observamos el efecto del armario como mecanismo normalizador.The aim of this work is to analyze the representation of the closet as a device of sexual repression in two texts belonging to the Spanish literature, although separated by more than 90 years. In both literary works we can observe the main features of this sexual-regulating instrument: the consequences of inhabiting a non-place, the invisibility of one's form of desire, and finally, the violent surveillance and discipline aimed at consolidating and perpetuating the heteronorm. Thus, through the analysis of a Lorca poem in which the poetic voice expresses the melancholy and suffering caused by the impossibility of living out one's homoerotic desire in the public sphere, on the one hand, and through the life experience of the protagonist of La mala costumbre, on the other, we intend to study the effect of the closet as a normalizing mechanism.
