La revolución entre las urnas y la lucha guerrillera (1966-1979)

Abstract

El presente trabajo analiza la lucha por la Revolución Democrática en el Gran Caribe de 1966 a 1979, teniendo en cuenta las proyecciones y cambios en las alianzas políticas articuladas tanto a lo interno como a nivel regional. Para su concreción se presentaban dos alternativas: la insurrección como única vía para la democracia y la opción electoral. Si bien ambas alternativas estaban en pugna, fue la apuesta por la Revolución el denominador común, a pesar de no tener claridad en cómo establecer sociedades democráticas cuando tomaran el poder. De 1966 a 1979 este debate estuvo presente en Venezuela, República Dominicana y Nicaragua, siendo el núcleo central de la investigación. Con ese propósito se examina la guerrilla en Caracas, el puntofijismo en el poder, la consolidación del balaguerismo, la asunción del PRD por medio de las urnas, la opción armada contra el somocismo y su desmontaje.

This paper analyzes the struggle for the Democratic Revolution in the Greater Caribbean from 1966 to 1979, taking into account the projections and changes in the political alliances articulated both internally and regionally. For its concretion, insurrection was presented as the only way to democracy and the electoral option. Although both alternatives were in conflict, the commitment to the Revolution was the common denominator, despite not having clarity on how to establish democratic societies when they took power. From 1966 to 1979 this debate was present in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, the central nucleus of the research. To this end, the guerrilla movement in Caracas, the puntofijismo in power, the consolidation of balaguerismo, theassumption of the PRD through the ballot box, the armed option against Somoza and its dismantling are examined.
