Relaciones intervirreinales. El traslado de virreyes de Nueva España a Perú durante el gobierno de los Austrias. 1535-1689

Abstract

El presente ensayo analiza las relaciones que existieron entre los virreinatos de Nueva España y Perú durante el gobierno de los Austrias. El fenómeno se explica desde el ámbito de la Historia Cultural de la Política, como parte de las dinámicas de la monarquía policéntrica, en ellas sitúa a los virreyes y sus cortes como agentes mediadores culturales de primer orden. Luego presenta el conjunto de reglas creadas por la Corona para las comunicaciones y traslados entre los territorios americanos y explora la información existente sobre el complejo traslado de los nueve virreyes y sus cortesanos que pasaron del virreinato septentrional al sur. La conclusión reflexiona la dinámica de la política imperial en múltiples facetas de sus relaciones intervirreinales.

The essay analyzes the relations that existed between the viceroyalties of New Spain and Peru during the government of the Habsburgs. The phenomenon is explained from the field of the Cultural History of Politics, as part of the dynamics of the polycentric monarchy, in which it places the viceroys and their courts as cultural mediating agents of the first order. Then it presents the set of rules created by the Crown for communications and transfers between the American territories and explores the existing information on the complex transfer of the nine viceroys and their courtiers who went from the northern viceroyalty to the south. The conclusion reflects on the dynamics of imperial politics in multiple facets of its relations between viceroyalties.
