Clarificando los orígenes del pintor Nicolás Javier de Goríbar: Nuevos datos sobre su familia paterna.

Abstract

Las noticias sobre la familia paterna del pintor barroco quiteño Nicolás Javier de Goríbar son escasas hasta el momento. Los datos conocidos de sus progenitores y de sus hermanos procedían fundamentalmente del testamento de José Valentín de Goríbar, padre del artista. En este trabajo organizamos el árbol genealógico, aportando y analizando documentación inédita que permite conocer mejor a su familia paterna, sobre todo a su padre. De él hemos descubierto su profesión, sus posesiones, sus hermanas y cuñados, y también los problemas a que se enfrentó la familia en los años correspondientes a la infancia del futuro pintor.The information about the paternal family of the baroque Quiteno painter Nicolás Javier de Goríbar is scarce until the moment. The known facts from his parents and brothers came mainly from the will of José Valentín de Goríbar, father of the artist. In this work we organize the family tree, contributing and analyzing unpublished documentation that allows to know better his paternal family, especially his father. We have discovered the profession of his father, and also his possessions, his sisters and brothers-in-law, and also the problems faced by the family in the years corresponding to the childhood of the future painter.
