Entre el discurso y la realidad: semblanzas femeninas desde la crónica artística en España (1900-1930)

Abstract

En su empeño por dar cabida a voces con registro femenino en el formato de las revistas ilustradas durante el primer tercio del siglo XX, por las columnas artísticas de los diarios desfiló una generación de pioneras que contribuiría a renovar el lenguaje del arte español. Se revisan aquí una serie de artículos, publicados por el semanario madrileño Estampa sobre la crónica artística, donde el colectivo de mujeres artistas representa un papel protagonista en el relato narrativo. Se revelarán los nombres de una minoría de creadoras que, aunque no resuenen en el imaginario colectivo, desempeñaron un rol activo en el círculo artístico de la época: Marisa Pinazo, Rosario de Velasco, Julia Minguillón y Margarita Frau. A la luz de la valoración crítica de determinados aspectos biográficos y de sus obras, se analiza el debate de la práctica creativa entonces en ciernes. Brindamos, pues, no sólo la posibilidad de redescubrir talentos femeninos silenciados por la historiografía artística, sino también de profundizar en los discursos al servicio de la organización patriarcal de la institución Arte.

In its effort to make room for voices with a feminine register in the format of illustrated magazines during the first third of the 20th century, a generation of pioneers paraded through the artistic columns of newspapers that would contribute to renewing the language of Spanish art. A series of articles are reviewed here, published by the Madrid weekly Estampaon the artistic chronicle, where the group of women artists plays a leading role in the narrative story. The names of a minority of creators will berevealed who, although they do not resonate in the collective imagination, played an active role in the artistic circle of the time: Marisa Pinazo, Rosario de Velasco, Julia Minguillón and Margarita Frau. In the light of the critical assessment of certainbiographical aspects and of his works, the debate on creative practicethen in the making is analyzed. We offer, therefore, not only the possibility of rediscovering female talents silenced by artistic historiography, but also of delving into the discourses at the service of the patriarchal organization of the institution Art.
