La interculturalidad a través de los cines de África: textos, pretextos y contextos para una ciudadanía global

Abstract

Reflexionar sobre las imágenes que los medios de comunicación y el cine occidental nos suelen transmitir acerca de África nos permite observar el desequilibrio que existe entre la realidad del continente y sus representaciones mediáticas. Estos desfases no sólo distorsionan nuestras percepciones sobre nuestros vecinos, sino que entorpecen el encuentro igualitario y la valoración de la diversidad cultural, tan necesarios para la construcción de una ciudadanía global. Desde nuestra posición europea y occidental, se reflexiona aquí sobre la importancia de fomentar el conocimiento de los cines de África, ya que incluyen textos, pretextos y contextos muy valiosos para tender "puentes" hacia una nueva ética de la convivencia: la interculturalidad.

Reflecting on the images that the media and the Western cinema often convey about Africa allows us to observe the great imbalance that exists between the reality of the continent and its media representations. These mismatches not only distort our perceptions of our neighbors, but also hamper the egalitarian encounter and the appreciation of cultural diversity, so necessary for the construction of a global citizenship. From our European and Western standpoint, in this paper we reflect on the importance of promoting the knowledge about African cinemas, as they represent valuable texts, pretexts and contexts for the construction of bridges for a new coexistence ethics, that of interculturality
