Abstract
En México y España, el pintor y litógrafo italiano Claudio Linati fue un defensor de la independencia, la república y la libertad. Su madre y su esposa fueron españolas, tuvo propiedades en Cataluña y como artista neoclásico y romántico su legado es único. Su libro, Trajes civiles, militares y religiosos de México (1828) nos da una idea de la situación social del país y de sus imaginarios políticos dentro del movimiento liberal internacional de su época. Considerando que las relaciones entre texto e imagen permiten leer las estructuras de pensamiento y representación de una determinada época, así como sus conflictos y silencios, este artículo centra su análisis en dos grupos de grabados litográficos cuyo contenido es social y político. Se trata de ver cómo imágenes y textos se refuerzan o desbordan para ofrecer una visión de México como país y como nación.
In Mexico and Spain, the Italian painter and lithographer Claudio Linati was an advocate of independence, republic and liberty. His mother and his wife were Spaniards, he had properties in Catalonia and as a neoclassical and romantic artist his legacy is unique. His book Civil Costumes, military and religious of Mexico (1828) gives us an idea of the social situation of the country and its imaginary political scene within the international liberal movement of his time. Considering that the relationships between text and image allow us to read the structures of thought and representation of a certain era, as well as its conflicts and silences, this article focuses its analysis on two groups of lithographic prints whose content is social and political. It is about seeing how images and texts are reinforced or overflow to offer a vision of Mexico as a country and as a nation.
