Abstract
This article analyzes irregular migration from Senegal to the Canary Islands through the lenses of securitization, necropolitics, and migrant resilience. It explores the structural drivers—economic, social, and environmental—that fuel migration, denounces European deterrence policies that turn the Atlantic into a deadly frontier, and highlights migrant agency through community strategies and support networks. Ultimately, it calls for a shift toward a human security and social justice framework that transcends punitive logic and centers the rights and dignity of migrants.
