Recuerdos alborotados de la Avenida Jerez: tejiendo la vida cotidiana en la vida nacional

Abstract

En este trabajo se recrean las memorias individuales de la autora recogidas a retazos desde la temprana infancia en una calle del hoy Centro Histórico de la capital de Honduras. Estos recuerdos tienen como eje un inmueble construido en 1945, en un predio antiguo que ha pertenecido a su familia por varias generaciones. El relato se centra en las décadas de 1950 y 1960 y a veces retrocede apoyándose en la memoria colectiva o histórica. La pandemia ha pospuesto, sin duda, los planes, pero no ha suspendido el transcurrir de la vida y esta aparente calma se ve invadida por inesperadas remembranzas, que parecen soñadas por el matiz de nostalgia que ahora las recubre, recuerdos que ya no tienen asidero en la vida cotidiana contemporánea y cada vez menos en la materialidad del paisaje urbano de la ciudad. ¿Serán estas suficientes razones para contarlas y rescatarlas del olvido?

This article recreates bits and pieces of the author's personal memories from her early childhood, growing up in a street of the current Historic District of Honduras' capital city. These memories revolve around a property built in 1945 on historic lands, which has belonged to her family for several generations. The story encompasses the decades of 1950 and 1960, but sometimes goes back further, leaning on the collective or historical memory. Without a doubt, the pandemic has postponed plans to rehabilitate this property, but it has not stopped the trace of time or the vibrance of the lives it once housed . The apparent calm that pervades our lives right now, is overwhelmed by unexpected remembrances, remembrances that feel like dreams giving way to a nostalgic tone that colors these memories. However, these remembrances have less and less meaning and significance in today's daily life, corresponding to its disappearing material references in the city¿s urban landscape. Could these be enough reasons to retell and rescue them from oblivion?
