dc.description	The following paper has the purpose of providing greater exposure to the cases of four female artists belonging to the Peruvian viceroyalty era, which would result in stating new inquiries regarding the study of artistic history during the aforementioned period. It is not until the XVII century that cases of women associated to the practice of drawing and painting can be identified, which exhibit conspicuous economic and social differences. To Illustrate, we assess the cases of three widows and the unusual scenario of a woman who, based on the social prestige she already possessed, sought instead greater recognition (further supported by a prestigious institution: Madrid’s Academy of San Fernando). Analyzed from a gender perspective, these artists’ cases intend to enrich the current perception of women in the Peruvian viceroyalty’s art and society.
dc.description.abstract	El presente trabajo tiene como propósito visibilizar los casos de cuatro artistas mujeres en el virreinato peruano, lo cual conllevaría a plantear nuevas interrogantes concernientes al estudio de la historia del arte de ese periodo. Es a partir del siglo XVII donde cabe identificar casos de mujeres asociados a la práctica del dibujo y la pintura, y en los que se advierten notorias diferencias sociales y económicas. Observamos aquí a tres viudas y el disímil caso de una mujer quien, a partir del prestigio social que ya ostentaba, buscó más bien obtener un reconocimiento mayor (avalado además por una institución de prestigio: la Academia de San Fernando de Madrid). Analizados desde una perspectiva de género, los casos de estas artistas pretenden enriquecer la percepción que se tiene sobre las mujeres en la sociedad y el arte virreinal peruano.
