La Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús, principal icono barroco del Ecuador

Abstract

El estudio analiza los rasgos característicos del estilo barroco, como expresión cultural, expresados en obras artísticas como la iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús, un ícono importante de Ecuador por los detalles que develan una época en que el catolicismo utilizara el estilo como instrumento para la Contrarreforma que hiciera frente al protestantismo, cuya fuerte expresividad en las obras de arte reflejaba una lucha religiosa iniciada en Europa y que tuviera como intención reafirmar su doctrina entre la gente común donde a América Latina llega como una forma violenta para adoctrinar. Como obra representativa del patrimonio cultural, es una mezcla de una serie de mixtura de enseñanza europea con aprendizajes indígenas que la hacen una obra única; y en cuya obra artística queda la mano de una serie de artistas anónimos: los "otros".The study analyzes the characteristic features of the baroque style, as a cultural expression, expressed in artistic works such as the church of la Compañía de Jesús, an important icon of Ecuador due to the details that reveal a time when Catholicism used the style as an instrument for Counter-Reformation that faced Protestantism, whose strong expressiveness in the works of art reflected a religious struggle that began in Europe and that had the intention of reaffirming its doctrine among the common people where it comes to Latin America as a violent way to indoctrinate.
