Abstract
This article aims to demonstrate the influence of the visual exchange between Mexican and Catalan editorial landscapes on the material and visual configuration of the monumental historical work titled Mexico a través de los siglos(1884-1889). The text highlights the involvement of more than forty Spanish artists who contributed to the illustration of the five volumes, producing various types of prints to bring this costly co-edition to life. With over two thousand prints, this work represents the largest collection of images in a Mexican editorial project of the 19th century, becoming an essential reference for approaching the visual reconstruction of the nation’s history during that period. Such imagery, therefore, is a construct shaped overseas
