El primer texto relativo al salvamento acuático en España = The first text on aquatic lifesaving in Spain

Abstract

Subtítulo: Instrucción sobre el modo y medios de socorrer a los que se ahogaren, o hallaren en peligro, en el río de Sevilla (1773)La finalidad de esta investigación es describir el contenido de la Instrucción sobre el modo y medios de socorrer a los que se ahogaren, o hallaren en peligro, en el río de Sevilla (1773). La introducción está dedicada a justificar y fundamentar la investigación, así como a caracterizar la fuente utilizada. En segundo lugar se contextualiza temporal y espacialmente el estudio. Posteriormente se muestran y analizan los resultados, que destacan por la organización de los profesionales implicados en el dispositivo de salvamento acuático y la distribución de funciones entre éstos. Al respecto hay que subrayar la figura de los llamados buzos, antecedentes directos de los socorristas acuáticos. Por último se exponen las conclusiones, entre las que destacan la necesidad de investigar otras fuentes primarias relacionadas, los escasos conocimientos que se tenían sobre maniobras propias del salvamento acuático y las mejorables condiciones laborales de los buzos.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subtitle: Instruction on the way and means of succorring those who are drowning, or in danger, in the river of Seville (1773)The aim of this research is to describe the content of the Instrucción sobre el modo y medios de socorrer a los que se ahogaren, o hallaren en peligro, en el río de Sevilla (1773). The introduction is dedicated to its justification and foundation, as well as to describe the source used. Secondly, the research is contextualised, both in time and space. Subsequently, the results are shown and analysed; such results outstand by the organization of the professionals involved in lifesaving and the distribution of tasks among them. The divers¿ role has to be emphasised as direct predecessors of lifeguards. Finally, the conclusions are presented, stressing among others the necessity of researching other related primary sources, the scarce knowledge existing at the time regarding lifesaving tasks and the divers¿ poor working conditions.
