Abraham como héroe cristiano. A propósito del lienzo El sacrificio de Isaac de Espinosa.

Abstract

El presente trabajo aborda el estudio del tipo iconográfico del Sacrificio de Isaac a partir de la pintura de Jerónimo Jacinto de Espinosa conservada en la Real Parroquia de San Andrés de Valencia, realizando un análisis diacrónico de la continuidad y variación del tipo y definición de las fuentes literarias. El objetivo es definir el modo en el que la imagen de Abraham se convierte en el Barroco hispánico en figura del héroe cristiano, identificando tanto los antecedentes visuales y discursivos como los préstamos significativos en la línea de lo definido por Bialostocki como tema de encuadre.

The present work deals with the study of the iconographic type of Isaac's Sacrifice from the painting by Jerónimo Jacinto Espinosa (preserved in the Royal Parish of San Andrés de Valencia), through a diachronic analysis of the continuity and variation of the type and definition of the literary sources. The aim its to define the way in which the Abraham's image transforms into the Hispanic Baroque through the figure of the Christian hero. Moreover, this study's objective is to identify its visual and discursive antecedents as well as significant loans in the line of what defined by Bialostocki as framing subject.
