Abstract
aspectos socio culturales históricos y ecoturismo rural sostenible.
The Center for Education Technology Transfer and Research for Development CITTED, belonging to the UNED, located in La Perla de La Fortuna in the north of Costa Rica, has sought from its beginnings both in its vision and in its mission, support to communities of peasant settlements and populations Of the rural territories of the northern Huetar region of Costa Rica, which are its target population through the implementation of extension, transfer, training, research, action and technical education processes aimed at strengthening and improving productive activities and their healthy diversification With sustainability in areas ranging from environmental education, agroforestry systems, organic production, agro industry, information technologies, historical socio-cultural aspects and sustainable rural ecotourism. The teaching model goes beyond the classroom and brings the learning to the field, to the practice and to the experiences as a pedagogical method. Local development will only be achieved if the same local living forces propose and elaborate their solutions. CITTED, in this line, through the Program of Environmental Development and Forest Culture, has supported a number of social actors in the subject of conservation through the reproduction of native trees, tours to Schools and Colleges, sowing campaigns , Productive projects in plots, socio-environmental meetings, academic projects and extension activities. We face a context of wide manifestation of environmental deterioration in all its forms: water pollution, soil deterioration, loss of biodiversity, etc. Due to loss of forest cover and the fragmentation of forests in the basins of the northern Huetar region and the country in general.
