Esta comunicación persigue realizar un seguimiento comparativo de las fiestas españolas en torno a los santos a lo largo del siglo XVII, con la intención de analizar el papel de la música en las mismas, identificar los elementos musicales que fueron específicos de los actos de esta naturaleza y explicar en qué residió su idoneidad para "santificar".

The objective of this paper is a comparative check of Spanish festivities for saints of the XVIIth century, in order to analyze the role of music, to identify musical elements which were specific of that kind of events and to explain where was their suitability to "sanctify".
