Abstract
Fátima Mernissi (1940, Fez-2015, Rabat) ha sido una de las más conocidas feministas del mundo árabo-musulmán. Sus estudios sobre las relaciones entre la ideología sexual, la identidad de género y el status de la mujer en el Islam suponen un hito de singular valía en la historia del pensamiento contemporáneo. A lo largo de su extensa obra, se mostró, en todo momento, como una luchadora incansable en la denuncia del control de la sexualidad femenina, como forma secular de marginación y subordinación de la mujer en el seno de sociedades marcadamente patriarcales, tanto en el ámbito islámico como occidental.
Fatema Mernissi (1940, Fez - 2015, Rabat) has been one of the best known feminist of the Arab-Muslim world. Her studies on the relationship between sexual ideology, gender identity and status of women in Islam are a milestone of singular value in the history of contemporary thought. Throughout her extensive work, she shown herself at all times as a tireless fighter in denouncing the control of female sexuality, as a secular form of marginalization and subordination of women within the bosom of highly marked patriarchal societies, both in the Islamic and Western spheres.
