Adaptación, estilos de vida y la práctica de tatuarse en una cárcel mexicana

Abstract

En este artículo se reconocen y explican las características particulares del modo de vida en la colonia penal Islas Marías, México, que hasta la fecha no se había realizado; mediante la propuesta de un mecanismo generativo, validado mediante otro fenómeno relacionado, la práctica de tatuarse en esta colonia penal. El mecanismo requirió de reconocer las principales necesidades de los internos (seguridad y obtención de recursos) y observar el tipo de relaciones (relajadas o tensas) entre los internos y entre estos y el personal, a partir de estrategias de adaptación a un espacio regulado por reglamentos institucionales y por la Subcultura Carcelaria. Las estrategias de adaptación con las que se construyó el mecanismo son las propuestas por Goffman (Conversión, Línea Intransigente, Colonización y Regresión Situacional), y por los autores (Maximización de Rendimientos. Saber Tirar el Tiempo. Toma y Daca). Siendo Saber Tirar el Tiempo y la Colonización coincidentes y las más comunes.

This article recognises and explains the particular characteristics of the way of life in the Islas Marías penal colony, Mexico, which to date had not been realised; by proposing a generative mechanism, validated through another related phenomenon, the practice of tattooing in this penal colony. The mechanism required recognising the main needs of the inmates (security and obtaining resources) and observing the type of relationships (relaxed or tense) among the inmates and between them and the staff, based on strategies of adaptation to a space regulated by institutional regulations and by the Prison Subculture. The adaptation strategies with which the mechanism was constructed are those proposed by Goffman (Conversion, Intransigent Line, Colonisation and Situational Regression), and by the authors (Maximisation of Yields, Knowing How to Spend Time, Give and Take). Knowing How to Throw Time and Colonisation being coincident and the most common ones.
