Perfilando la idea de mártir y martirio en la Antigüedad a través de la 'Passio Seruandi et Germani'

Abstract

Con este estudio pretendemos entender algunos conceptos como el de mártir o el de martirio desde el uso de los textos hagiográficos, especialmente la leyenda hagiográfica de San Servando y San Germán, quienes supuestamente vivieron entre los siglos III d. C. y IV d. C. También, con esta investigación, intentaremos conocer si ambos mártires vivieron verdaderamente cuando nos lo muestra la hagiografía, si fueron soldados o incluso, si fueron juzgados por Viator. Sin embargo, la leyenda hagiográfica ha propiciado que surja un tipo de vínculo entre la Población de Cádiz y sus Santos Patronos.

With this study, we expect to understand some conceps as “martyr” or “martyrdom” from the use of the hagiographic texts, especially the Saint Servando and Saint German’s hagiographic legend, who lived, supposedly, between the third and fourth centuries. Also, with this investigation we will try to know if they truly lived when the legend says to us, if they were judged by Viator. Nevertheless the hagiographic legend has led to the emergence a kind of linkage between the Cadiz’s population and their Holy Patrons.
